In November, 2016 KAWS released a series of 8 Figures in conjunction with his “Where The End Starts” exhibit in Fort Worth, Texas. The complete set of 8 all feature the signature KAWS style elements. The set of 8 is part of a limited series.
The figures were released through KAWSONE, MoMA, and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. James Donnelly who goes as KAWS is known for his impressive Art and limited edition toys and clothing. Often times featuring the same signature style icons. Instantly recognisable and all meant to be universally understood, surpassing languages and cultures. KAWS has a unique quality to intepret and interact with pop culture and all of its moving parts. His interpretation of a Simpsons still which in itself was another pop cultural refference to a Beatles Album sold for $14.8 million USD in Hong Kong in 2019. This speaks volumes to the impact and value the Artist holds over the Art world. He has collaborated and designed with an impressive list of brands including Original Fake, A Bathing Ape, Undercover, Medicom Toy, Supreme, Nike, Comme des Garcons, The North Face, NIGO, Jun Takashi and more. The Artist from New Jersey is one of the most important Artists in modern day Art Culture and is often times compared to Andy Warhol for his cross-market appeal and his ability to blur lines between commercial and fine art.
