Takashi Murakami is a Japanese Artist born in 1962 in Tokyo, Japan. Known for his ability to adapt the aesthetics of Japanese traditional art within the context of popular culture - Murakami is one of the most famous and successful Artists of its generation. Often times dubbed the Japanese Andy Warhol for his innovative ideas, entrepeneurial spirit and ability to walk the thin line between art and commerce. Murakami became famous for his 'Superflat' art style. In 2003 the Artist worked on an official collaboration with Louis Vuitton. In that same year a life size Murakami sculpture called Miss Ko2 was auctioned for $567,500 USD - a record breaking mark for a Japanese Contemporary Artist. Murakami is involved in a range of projects and Art works - one of them the cover art for the 2007 Kanye West Album "Graduation". The artists work has been in every noteworthy museum such as the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, the Guggenheim, the MCA in Chicago and many more.
